Ernesto Durango was born in July of 1954 in Tampa Florida to Elponao Durango and Bernice Dayton. Elpnoao worked in a cigar factory in Ybor City while Bernice was a barmaid at the Tick Toc Lounge in Clearwater.

Young Ernesto never knew his father as Mr. Durango thought young Ernesto would be a bit hard to explain to his wife.

Ernesto learned at an early age the importance of a strong work ethic as long as it was someone else who did the work. After leaving Clearwater High School in 9th grade he found work with an import business located out of Bogota Columbia.

After a short career there he entered into the world of finance working for a guy name Lucky who helped down and out folks handle their gambling expenses.

Retiring at a young age with the money he made from his two former endeavors he spends his time on a beach in Negril Jamaica where he hosts the Ernesto Durango Show on Saturday mornings. Ah.. sometimes,,, when he is awake,,, and sober.

OK so it’s been a while since he brought his happy drunk ass into the studio but never fear. Filling in for Ernesto is some guy he met years ago at the Tick Toc Lounge. His name is Michael Crose who used to hang out there when he was chasing the youth editor of the now defunct Clearwater Sun.
